The event raises money to help support people and families in hopes of stopping seizures, finding a cure and overcoming challenges created by epilepsy. Over 130,000 people in the Chicago area have epilepsy; but a third of people with epilepsy live with uncontrollable seizures because no available treatment works for them.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago is a not-for-profit, incorporated in Illinois, serving 43 counties, offering counseling, advocacy and educational services to people with epilepsy, their families, and the communities in which they live.
CEO and President of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, Kurt Florian, and Jonathan Ramirez joined ABC 7 from this year’s Epilepsy 5k to talk about their goals and bringing awareness to the disease.
