As a child growing up with epilepsy, the social challenges one might face can be overwhelming. Teen Group enables its members to connect with others of the same age who understand what it means to live with the disorder. The group focuses on ensuring that youth who have epilepsy know their self-worth, have a sense of belonging, and are a part of a social network that specifically addresses their unique needs.
Participating in Teen Group activities gives kids and teens with epilepsy the opportunity to bond on monthly excursions such as trips to bowling lanes or the zoo, and visits to the latest museum exhibits or local sporting events, including Chicago Bulls and Fire games. Members get to interact with others in a setting where epilepsy is the commonality and not what makes them different.
The next Teen Group will be taking place at the Enchanted Castle in Lombard, IL (1103 S. Main St.) from 10am-12pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
