There are many struggles that young people go through on a daily basis. They can range from self-confidence issues and bullying to the stresses of school and not being able to find a job after graduation. Here at the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, we recognize that dealing with epilepsy can be just as much, if not more, of a struggle. We also know that young people with epilepsy can live happy and healthy lives, uninhibited by seizures.
Living with epilepsy can be difficult, but the Peer Alliance is here to help! We are dedicated to helping young people accept and be proud of who the are. We are committed to educating people in the Chicago area about epilepsy and helping lead the fight against misconceptions, prejudice, and negative stigmas. We are here to create communities where people with and without epilepsy can work together to become advocates, spread education and awareness, and help those with epilepsy lead positive, healthy lives.
You don’t need to have epilepsy to join the Peer Alliance, all you need is a passion for helping others and a desire to work for a great cause. There are many positions available and endless ways to help. We need people to develop education plans, lead advocacy events, fundraise, recruit members, market the council, and contribute their talents to help build our organization. If are interested in joining, please contact email@example.com, or join us on Facebook at Epilepsy Peer Alliance.
