Leia joined the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago in December 2018 as the Programs Coordinator, and will be managing various programs, including Camp Blackhawk, Studio E: The Epilepsy Art Program, and Teen & Kids Club Group events. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago, where she earned a B.A. in Public Health.
Having interacted with experienced leaders that have provided epilepsy related training and presentations, Leia is involved as a Community Health Worker with AMITA Health Medical Center. She reaches out with patience, encouragement, and supports individuals who are struggling to adapt and cope with living with epilepsy. Currently working with clients at the AMITA Health Medical Center’s Nutrition Clinic; Leia provides support by listening to their challenges with understanding and helping overcome their concerns together, with a plan that is convenient, manageable, and attainable for epilepsy self-management. Through this experience, Leia promotes epilepsy education, awareness, programs, services and resources that are available through the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.
