Camp Blackhawk: Week-Long Retreat for Kids & Teens with Epilepsy

Camp Blackhawk: Week-Long Retreat for Kids & Teens with Epilepsy

Through April 30, 2020, all EFGC staff will be working remotely. If you fax or mail your Camp Blackhawk application we will not have access to it until April 30. If possible, we recommend scanning and emailing your completed application to Lder@epilepsychicago.org. When we return, we will review applications based on the date they were received. We apologize any inconvenience and are looking forward to Camp Blackhawk!

Each summer children and teens come together and enjoy all the fun activities and friendships that come with a trip to Camp Blackhawk while leaving behind various challenges epilepsy can bring to their daily lives. They are all surrounded–-some for the first time–-by dozens of other kids who know exactly what having epilepsy means. They don’t have to worry about what people will think if they have a seizure or about being excluded from activities. At Camp Blackhawk, epilepsy is the norm.

Campers get to experience a variety of fun camp activities such as swimming, zip lining, boating and campfires while in a safe and medically monitored setting. In the months leading up to camp, EFGC’s staff builds relationships with families to develop a solid grasp of the campers individual needs. Best of all, when campers are having the time of their lives at Camp Blackhawk, EFGC staff are right along side of them enjoying every minute just as much!

There is no cost to attend camp, however, donations are accepted and welcomed. Please be aware that space is limited and campers are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Priority acceptance will be given to children and teens within the EFGC service area.

The 2020 Camp Blackhawk dates are June 21-26 and July 5-10.
