Ayesha Akhtar is the current Director of Education, after having been an Education Coordinator with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago since 2011. She is also a Master Trainer in Diversity & Cross Cultural Awareness. Ayesha is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where she earned a B.B.A. in accounting, and in 2010 she earned her M.P.H. from the University of Illinois-Chicago, focusing on culturally sensitive approaches to health care. She has over 10 years of experience as a health educator in a variety of settings and is passionate about educating communities with health information to individuals live empowered and informed lives. Her service area spans a 15-mile radius from her home base of Oak Park, where she lives with her husband and two sons. Ayesha’s specialty programs include trainings for school personnel, students in grades K-12 and college-aged persons. She also specializes in trainings for African-American, Hispanic American and other diverse communities looking for culturally sensitive approaches to learning about epilepsy. Ayesha is fluent in Spanish and Urdu.

Kimberly Janssen works with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago part time, hailing from central Illinois. With experience in both community education and case management, Kimberly serves central Illinois, which was previously served by the Epilepsy Resource Center of Central Illinois. She worked with the Epilepsy Resource of Central Illinois for over six years and has over 15 years of experience working with and advocating on behalf of individuals with disabilities.
She provides educational presentations and trainings, facilitates support groups, develops relationships with the community, advocates community awareness to community agencies, hospitals, schools and school staff personnel, and provides case management as needed. She is also trained in First Aid and CPR. With a B.S. degree in Humans Services and a minor in Psychology from Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne, we are fortunate to have Kimberly on our team with her expertise, experience and energetic personality. Kimberly and her husband, Rev. Samuel Janssen resides in Rochester, Illinois near Springfield (down state from Chicago, as they say).
